Our micro distillery is in a converted bike shed in the village of Port Eynon on Gower. We have an absolute passion for gin and are constantly developing new recipes based on the botanicals found on Gower. Our aim is to make small batch craft gin which encapsulates the freshness of the sea and the aromas of the coast and dunes that surround us. We want to be a strong ambassador for Gower and Wales which is why we use Welsh names for our gins and have fully bilingual bottles.
We are now taking bookings for our gin garden (suitable for all weather). We can take up to 8 people comfortably. Please send us a message through the website if you are a larger group and we will do our best to accommodate. You can book a 2 hour slot below to taste all our gins and see our micro distillery. There is no charge for the visit.
The botanicals for all our gins are macerated for almost two days and the infused spirit is then slowly distilled to create the perfect blend.
The ABV of 43% of GŴYR, Pinwydd, Rhamanta and Bara Brith creates a smooth finish and brings out the juniper and citrus beautifully. For GŴYR: Rhosili, we have chosen 45% ABV as it best enhances the delicate botanicals we have used. Our Nerth y Ddraig / Dragon Strength is cut at 60% but is still silky smooth.
Our still, called Arianwen or Silver Spirit, is a 200L pot still which lets us make up to 300 bottles of gin at a time. We use a long slow maceration process to fully extract all the botanical flavours before distillation resulting in intensely flavoured spirits.
We love to innovate with our gins and have developed our own processes for flavour development, oak-mellowing and post distillation infusions which have allowed us to create unique flavours for ourselves and for our bespoke clients. Distilling by the sea has its own special magic and if you are ever in the area please do call in and say hello.
We hope that when you taste our gins, it will transport you to the long golden beaches and ozone rich air of one of the most beautiful places in Wales.
GŴYR is made with a blend of eight botanicals including juniper, fresh zest of lemon, fresh zest of pink grapefruit, green fennel and bronze fennel.
Pinwydd has a classic London dry base and is then infused with aromatic foraged pine tips, orange, cranberry and pink peppercorn.
GŴYR: Rhosili has the same classic London dry base but this time with foraged gorse flowers, sea buckthorn, linden flowers and fresh lime zest. The gin was created in conjunction with the estate of Dylan Thomas and it celebrates the zest and vitality of the young poet who loved Gower.
Bara Brith is a celebration of home baking and was inspired by Grandma. Based on the Welsh tea bread, we macerate sultanas in Welsh black tea and add cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Each bottle comes with a copy of Grandma's recipe on the label.
Rhamanta is all about romance and love. It is based on our GŴYR original with only a touch of fennel to complement the fragarance of rose and pomegranate.
Nerth y Ddraig /Dragon Strength is based on our award-winning Rhosili gin with added dragon smokiness from Lapsong Souchong tea and dragon heat from cubeb pepper and grains of paradise.
